Police are investigating the death of Sarwa Aldoori, 71, a plastic surgeon who was found deceased in a swimming pool at a residence in Bakersfield, California.
Aldoori was discovered in the backyard pool on Tuesday, and the Kern County coroner's office identified her publicly the following day. The circumstances surrounding her death, including the cause, how she entered the pool, and the duration she was submerged, remain unclear. The Bakersfield Police Department has not indicated whether foul play is suspected in their ongoing investigation.
Public records indicate Aldoori resided in a home on the 1400 block of Pineglen Drive since 2006, a property valued at approximately $780,000. It is not publicly confirmed if this was the residence where she was found.
Aldoori practiced medicine for 35 years, specializing in obstetrics, gynecology, and cosmetic procedures. She was associated with Bella Health and Beauty, a plastic surgery clinic in northeast Bakersfield. Her specialization included women's health and wellness alongside cosmetic surgery.
State records from the California Medical Board show that Aldoori surrendered her physician's license in March 2024. This action followed a seven-year probation period initiated in 2021 due to accusations of insufficient training for a liposuction and tummy tuck procedure performed in 2016. This procedure resulted in the death of a patient due to a fat embolism. The board determined that Aldoori had not complied with the terms of her probation, leading to the surrender of her license.
Aldoori's death occurs amid a period marked by several high-profile fatalities linked to cosmetic surgery procedures. In March, a TikTok influencer suffered a severe brain injury following a tummy tuck surgery. In late May, a socialite was found deceased in a Brazilian hotel shortly after an undisclosed cosmetic procedure. Also in May, a mother died after receiving cosmetic surgery in Florida, with a teenager later dying in connection with the same clinic, according to their families' legal representatives.
