Sausalito's new city manager, Elaine Forbes, was arrested on suspicion of burglary early Saturday, according to reports. Forbes had been in the top city job for less than three weeks when she was taken into custody by Marin County sheriff’s deputies. The arrest followed a decision by the Sausalito City Council on Thursday to place Forbes on administrative leave.
Authorities have not yet released details regarding the alleged burglary or the specific circumstances surrounding the arrest. The City of Sausalito issued a statement acknowledging the situation, noting it as a "difficult development for our City staff and our community." The city added that due to the ongoing investigation by the Marin County Sheriff’s Office, it would not comment further on the allegations.
Before assuming her role in Sausalito, Forbes served for nine years as the executive director of the Port of San Francisco.
