Bryan Kohberger, convicted of the 2022 murders of four University of Idaho students, has petitioned to withdraw his guilty plea, according to reports. Kohberger, who previously admitted to the killings, now claims new evidence has emerged that supports his innocence and asserts that his plea was based on false information.

Kohberger pleaded guilty in July 2025 to the murders of Madison Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin. The four University of Idaho students were killed in November 2022.

He was sentenced in August 2025 to four consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole. Throughout the legal proceedings, Kohberger has not publicly discussed the motive for the attack.
