Bruce Willis was not seen in photographs shared on social media from his daughter Tallulah Willis' wedding to Justin Acee, raising questions about his attendance at the Idaho ceremony. The actor, 71, has been battling frontotemporal dementia, a condition that requires round-the-clock care.
Tallulah, 32, celebrated her wedding with friends and family, including her mother Demi Moore and sisters Scout and Rumer Willis, who were featured in posted images. However, neither Bruce Willis nor his wife, Emma Heming Willis, 50, appeared in photos reviewed by The Daily Mail from the event. Representatives for the family have not yet responded to requests for comment.
The family publicly shared news of Bruce Willis' health struggles in March 2022, when it was announced he was retiring from acting due to aphasia. In February 2023, his diagnosis was specified as frontotemporal dementia. Tallulah had noted subtle signs of his illness years prior, initially attributing them to "Hollywood hearing loss" before realizing the issue was more personal.
She described the progression of his illness in a 2023 Vogue article, recalling a moment in 2021 when the realization of not having a father's speech at her future wedding became profoundly painful. Tallulah has been actively documenting memories of her father, stating, "Every time I go to my dad’s house, I take tons of photos – of whatever I see, the state of things. I’m like an archaeologist, searching for treasure in stuff that I never used to pay much attention to."
Despite his declining health, Tallulah shared that her father still recognizes her and brightens when she enters the room. She described him as someone who "still knows who I am and lights up when I enter the room," noting that early-stage frontotemporal dementia often presents with language and motor deficits rather than the memory loss characteristic of Alzheimer's.
Bruce Willis' wife, Emma Heming Willis, stated last year that he is living in a home with continuous care but remains closely involved with his family. She described him as "still very mobile" and in "really great health overall, you know. It's just his brain that is failing him."
Demi Moore, who was married to Willis for nearly 13 years before their 2000 divorce, has called witnessing his decline "difficult," noting it is "hard to see somebody who was so vibrant and strong and so directed shift into this other parts of themself."
Tallulah and Justin Acee announced their engagement in December 2024, having been in a relationship since January 2023. The couple obtained their marriage license last week at the Blaine County Courthouse in Hailey, Idaho. Rumer Willis, one of Tallulah's sisters, shared a photo of the couple outside the courthouse after they obtained their license, captioning it, "My angels got their marriage license."
