The younger brother of former New York Mets pitcher Craig Kimbrel died Saturday in a motorcycle crash in Huntsville, Alabama. Matt Kimbrel, 36, was pronounced dead at a hospital after his motorcycle collided with a dump truck that was exiting Highway 432.

According to authorities, Kimbrel was traveling at high speed and could not slow down in time to avoid hitting the back of the dump truck. An investigation into the incident is ongoing, but no criminal charges are expected.

Matt Kimbrel had also played baseball, being drafted by the Atlanta Braves and competing in the minor leagues. He was engaged to be married to Genevieve Marie, who posted on social media about the loss shortly after the crash.

Craig Kimbrel, 38, recently signed with the Kansas City Royals, marking the 12th MLB team for which he has played. He previously signed with the Mets on a minor league deal in January, appearing in 14 games before being designated for assignment in May.
