Britney Spears recently posted and subsequently deleted a social media message that touched upon her father Jamie Spears's health and the restrictions she faced during her conservatorship. The post, made over the weekend as Spears celebrated her sons Sean Preston and Jayden James's birthdays, included a remark about her father's physical condition.
"I wonder why god took my father's legs away?" Spears wrote, referencing her father's reported amputation of his right leg above the knee due to a severe bacterial infection in November 2023. Spears, 44, also reflected on the travel limitations imposed by her parents during the conservatorship, which lasted for 13 years.
"For 15 years I was never allowed to say my name in the land of the free and travel spontaneously," she stated in the post, which was accompanied by a photograph of her in a bikini at a vacation spot. Spears contrasted this past restriction with her current freedom to travel, noting her frequent trips to Mexico since the conservatorship ended in November 2021. She described these trips as a time when her "inner child" felt awakened and she felt "alive."
The pop star's sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, celebrated their birthdays this past week. Sean Preston turned 21 on Monday, September 14, and Jayden James turned 20 on Saturday, September 12. Spears shared a separate, heartfelt message for her younger son, expressing her hope to be "the best mommy in the world."
Earlier this year, Jayden spoke out to address conspiracy theories claiming his mother had been replaced by a clone. He described such theories as "ridiculous" and a product of how easily "exaggerated and fake" rumors can spread, particularly on social media platforms like TikTok. He noted that people often believe rumors without researching them.
Despite periods of estrangement, Spears and her sons have been working to rebuild their relationship. Jayden recalled his mother's supportive reaction to him and his brother making their runway debut at Paris Fashion Week earlier this year, highlighting her numerous calls and texts wishing them luck, and sending flowers to their hotel. He stated that their mother had expressed confidence in them, saying, "Yeah, you guys are my sons. You've got this."
