A British tourist is feared missing in the Spanish resort town of Benidorm after he failed to board his flight home and has not been heard from by his family. Paul Cartwright, 39, from Greater Manchester, was last seen by friends near Chaplin's Bar in the early hours of Sunday morning.
His wife, Sara Louise Cartwright, and mother, Eileen Jones, have launched an appeal for information regarding his whereabouts. Jones, who traveled to Spain with her sister-in-law to liaise with local authorities, stated that her son was due to fly home on Monday but never arrived. "If you see him, please ask him to ring home. We are all very worried," Jones said.
Cartwright is believed to have lost his phone and was last seen in the area between Benidorm's old town and its main entertainment strip. He is described as wearing glasses, beige chino shorts, a white T-shirt, and flip-flops. A friend noted that Cartwright is also recognizable by having half an ear missing.
Cartwright, who owns a scaffolding firm in Bolton, had been on holiday with friends who have since returned to the UK. His wife has asked if anyone can confirm if he has been seen in local bars, clubs, or on the beachfront.
This incident follows another recent disappearance of a British man in Spain. Cormac, a British national, has not been seen since he visited Palomares in the Almeria region in July. His sister, Sarah Arney, reported him missing on July 8. She stated that Cormac, described as approximately 5ft 9 with brown hair and glasses, was expected home but never returned.
The UK's Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) confirmed it is supporting the family of the British man reported missing in Spain and is in contact with local authorities. Police in the Almeria region do not believe Cormac was caught up in the wildfires that affected the area in July.
