Professional wrestler Brie Bella has shared details of a distressing incident where she passed out on the toilet due to severe constipation, leading to an embarrassing and frightening medical emergency.
Bella recounted the experience on the podcast "The Nikki & Brie Show," explaining that following a recent shoulder injury in early August, she was taking painkillers and became extremely constipated. A misunderstanding at a restaurant, where she consumed gluten-friendly food instead of a gluten-free meal, exacerbated the issue.
"I haven’t used the restroom for eight days, if not maybe I’m at 10," Bella said. "My body went from zero to 1,000 on the toilet. What happens to me is I get really sick from both ends."
As her condition worsened, she began to feel faint and called for her husband, fellow professional wrestler Bryan Danielson. While on the toilet with her pants down, she lost consciousness. Fortunately, their nanny, who is studying nursing, was present and able to assist. Danielson and the nanny managed to move Bella to her bed, but she remained unresponsive, prompting them to call for emergency medical services.
Paramedics arrived at their home, and according to Bella, she was incoherent. She later learned that she had soiled herself during the episode. "I get put into a wheelchair and then a stretcher," Bella said, describing her experience in the ambulance. "I was shivering so my whole body, I guess, was shaking and I was telling them ‘I’m freezing cold.’ ... I kinda wake up, and I’m like, ‘Oh, it smells like s–t.’ I looked at them and they look at me. ‘Did I s–t my pants?’ They go, ‘You did, but it’s okay.’"
Bella expressed her embarrassment but noted that the incident served as a wake-up call. She had to remain in her clothes for over two hours at the hospital while tests were conducted, and medical staff reassured her that the situation was considered "normal" given the extreme circumstances.
After receiving IV fluids and medication, Bella began to recover. Her husband, who reportedly has a strong aversion to bodily waste, helped clean her up once she was able to move.
The experience has since become a source of family humor, with her children occasionally teasing her about the event. Bella and Danielson, who married in April 2014, have two children, Birdie Joe and Buddy Dessert Danielson. Bella's return to wrestling has no definitive timeline following her shoulder injury sustained at WWE SummerSlam 2026.
