Victoria Lee, a dairy farmer, made an unforgettable entrance at her wedding on August 8, arriving at the church on her favorite cow, a Swiss breed named 'White Chocolate Button.' The 37-year-old bride married Mike Lee, 40, fulfilling a lifelong dream she has held since she was 10 years old.
Lee stated that riding a cow is no different from riding a horse and that 'White Chocolate Button' enjoyed the experience. The cow was adorned with a specially made flower crown for the occasion. The bride was transported to Holy Cross Church in Mark, Somerset, via tractor for the initial part of her journey before mounting her cow for the final approach to the ceremony.
"It was what I’d always dreamt of — it was truly incredible," Lee said. "Even though it’s pretty unheard of, people ride horses, and there is no difference to riding a cow!"
After the ceremony, the couple returned to their farm to milk the cows before joining the reception festivities. Lee mentioned the tight schedule required for milking meant she had only one hour of sleep before the wedding and had to start milking at 4:30 a.m. on her wedding day.
'White Chocolate Button' is accustomed to being dressed up for farm events, having been shown since she was a calf. Lee recounted that while she had not ridden this particular cow before, she had previously attempted to ride another cow, Basil, who did not seem receptive to the idea. Lee also shared that they have previously dressed their cows up as reindeer. "White Chocolate Button will do anything: she follows you around the fields, the yard, she comes into the house and eats bread too," Lee said. She tested riding the cow a few weeks prior to the wedding, finding that the animal was amenable to it.
Lee, who also dressed as an inflatable cow for her hen do, said she has ridden cows since she was a child, recalling rides on her childhood cow, Sadie, to the village shop. "Honestly, I have wanted to do this for years, so when we made it happen the inner child in me was jumping up and down," she said.
She also noted the overwhelming but supportive attention the couple has received since the ceremony. "It’s a tough time for farmers out there, I just wanted to make people smile," Lee commented, adding that planning a wedding while running a farm was challenging and took them 10 years. She expressed hope that Jeremy Clarkson might see the story.
