Brian Wolfe, Former Toronto Blue Jays Pitcher, Dies at 45

Brian Wolfe, who pitched in Major League Baseball for three seasons, has died at the age of 45. His wife, Rachell, announced his death on social media, stating he passed away after a "difficult and torturous battle."
Wolfe played for the Toronto Blue Jays from 2007 to 2009, compiling a 5-5 record over 72 appearances. He made his MLB debut in May 2007 against the New York Yankees. During his rookie season, he had a career-high 38 appearances and a 2.98 ERA out of the bullpen. He finished his major league career with a 3.81 ERA.
He was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in 1999 and spent six years in their minor league system before joining the Milwaukee Brewers. He was traded to the Blue Jays in exchange for Corey Koskie.
Wolfe also had a nine-year career playing overseas in Japan, most recently with the Saitama Seibu Lions until 2018. He was teammates with Shohei Ohtani during Ohtani's first season with the Nippon Ham Fighters.
Former MLB outfielder Brandon Barnes, a friend and fellow California native, shared a video tribute to Wolfe, describing him as one of his "best friends and mentors."
