Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Jacob Misiorowski described the mound at Angel Stadium as one of the worst he had ever encountered after his team's Sunday loss to the Los Angeles Angels. The Angels secured a victory thanks to a two-run home run by Wade Meckler in the second inning.
Misiorowski, who pitched seven innings, allowing two runs on two hits while striking out 10 and walking one, stated the mound was "dry; it was rock hard." He added that groundskeepers attempted to fix it multiple times. Despite his criticism of the playing surface, Misiorowski emphasized that he was not using it as an excuse for the loss, saying, "It is what it is and you can't blame it on that. And I got to do my job."
Misiorowski's comments have reignited discussions about the aging infrastructure at Angel Stadium, a concern frequently raised by Angels fans who have pointed to issues such as a closed seating section due to pest problems earlier in the season and a broken air conditioner in the weight room. Other players, like Yusei Kikuchi, have previously criticized the stadium's lack of basic amenities.
Walbert Ureña, the Angels' starting pitcher who contributed to the shutout, did not make similar complaints about the mound, leading some observers to question whether Misiorowski's remarks were an attempt to explain an uncharacteristic performance.
The Brewers, who lead the NL Central, had won the first two games of the series in Anaheim. The Angels' front office had also recently drawn attention for an announcement regarding pitcher José Soriano, stating he was being held out due to the possibility of a trade ahead of a deadline.
