Bret Michaels, the frontman of the rock band Poison, has canceled the remainder of his 2026 tour dates due to a need for extended recovery following recent surgeries. The decision comes after doctors evaluated Michaels following a performance at The Bowl at Sugar Hill in Georgia, recommending he remain off the road for several months.

"We will be pulling Bret off the road for the time being," Michaels’ doctors, Dr. Abby Borhan and Dr. Patel, stated. "He wanted to attempt this show, but we feel there is a much-needed period of rest and slow recovery ahead, especially considering the heat and humidity during the summer months and the effect it can have on his blood sugar levels."

Michaels Entertainment Group issued an apology for the cancellations, which include appearances at The Mountain Music Festival and other scheduled shows. The organization expressed anticipation for Michaels' return to performing once he has fully recovered.

In July, Michaels publicly shared that he was recovering from a procedure to remove a kidney stone that had not passed on its own. He described experiencing intense pain during subsequent performances in Charleston, West Virginia, Grantville, Pennsylvania, and a private show for military personnel at Fairchild AFB in Spokane, Washington. The pain ultimately led to his hospitalization and the surgery.

Michaels, 63, has been open about his ongoing health challenges, including living with Type 1 diabetes since childhood. His career has seen him front Poison, star in reality television, and pursue a solo career while advocating for diabetes awareness. He has previously faced serious health issues, including a brain hemorrhage in 2010 and a subsequent procedure for a hole in his heart. He has often credited his recovery to the support of his fans, family, and his own determination to return to the stage.
