Brazilian Influencer Dies Days After Breast Lift Surgery

Maria Eduarda Alves dos Santos, a 22-year-old Brazilian influencer known as Duda Alves on TikTok, died just days after undergoing a breast lift surgery. Her death, confirmed by loved ones on social media, is reportedly being investigated as a potential suicide.

Alves, who amassed over 750,000 followers, shared comedic videos and aspects of her personal life. In her final video, posted six days prior to her death, she discussed undergoing a mastopexy, a procedure to reshape breasts by removing excess skin and tightening tissue. She had explained in recent weeks that the surgery was motivated by her breasts being disproportionate to her height, causing back pain and aesthetic concerns.

"I ended up removing half of what I had. It was more of an aesthetic issue, I wanted to wear clothes without a bra, I wanted to have more freedom," she had said, according to Hugo Gloss.

Alves also reportedly mentioned receiving unwelcome comments from male followers after the procedure. A friend, Sarah Mahdavi, confirmed Alves's death and requested privacy for grieving family and friends. Another friend, Clarissa Pavie, remembered Alves for her "calmness, authenticity with a touch of dry humor."

Brazilian authorities have stated that Alves died on Sunday and are investigating the circumstances. A funeral was held on Tuesday in Sao Paulo, where her father thanked fans for their support.
