A glamorous Brazilian businesswoman, Priscila Lacerda Custodio, 24, was fatally shot by her boyfriend, 62-year-old cattle rancher João Roberto Bolelli, after she ended their four-month relationship, according to reports.
Custodio had complained that Bolelli was excessively jealous, hired people to watch her, and had threatened her life. An unidentified friend told Globo that Bolelli also accused Custodio of cheating and had allegedly assaulted her four days prior to the fatal shooting.
Custodio, who worked in digital marketing, was reportedly fearful of Bolelli. She brought her brother and a friend with her to Bolelli’s São Paulo ranch on Friday to return a pickup truck she had been using. While en route, they began arguing over the phone, and Custodio informed Bolelli she was ending their relationship.
Bolelli allegedly opened fire upon Custodio’s arrival, striking her with shots to the chest and arm. He then reportedly aimed the gun at Custodio’s brother and pursued him before fleeing the scene. An arrest warrant has been issued for Bolelli, and the case is being treated as femicide.
Juliana Amaral, a friend, described Custodio as a “wonderful person” whose life was “cut short by an evil man.” Amaral added, “She was beautiful, charming, and extremely polite.”
Bolelli has a history of domestic disputes. In December 2021, he was convicted of breaching protective orders obtained by a former partner and sentenced to three months and 15 days in prison.
