Two of Brad Pitt's children with former wife Angelina Jolie, Zahara and Maddox, have initiated legal proceedings to drop "Pitt" from their last names. Court documents obtained by the Daily Mail indicate that Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt filed a petition to change her name to Zahara Marley Jolie, while Maddox Chivan Jolie-Pitt filed a similar petition to become Maddox Chivan Jolie. These notices were published in the Los Angeles Daily Journal throughout June and July, with hearings scheduled for September 14 and September 28, respectively.
This development follows Zahara's previous petition in June to adopt the name Zahara Marley Jolie and Maddox's late May filing to drop the actor's surname. In California, a legal name change requires the publication of an "Order to Show Cause" in a newspaper for four consecutive weeks prior to the court date.
Meanwhile, Pitt's current partner, Ines de Ramon, has reportedly been welcomed by Pitt's family. A source told Page Six that de Ramon is "incredibly close with Brad’s family. They absolutely adore her and she’s been welcomed with open arms from the beginning." The insider added that the family "basically consider her family and one of their own." Despite this closeness, the source stated that Pitt "has no plans on getting married" to de Ramon.
Pitt, 62, and de Ramon, 33, recently made their relationship Instagram official. Photos shared by hairstylist Laurie Zanoletti showed the couple in matching black outfits. They later attended the wedding of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
Pitt was previously married to Jennifer Aniston from 2000 to 2005. He later married Angelina Jolie, with whom he shares six children. Their divorce was finalized in December 2024 after a lengthy legal process following their separation in 2016.
