A three-year-old boy attacked by a crocodile in an enclosure at Johnsons of Old Hurst near Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, is recovering well, according to his parents. The incident occurred on June 18.
Four weeks after the attack, the boy is reportedly talking to nurses, playing with his feet, and smiling, his parents shared on a fundraising page. The parents described the initial 12 hours at Addenbrooke's Hospital as the "worst" of their lives, involving consent forms for resuscitation and amputation. The boy sustained injuries to his arms, neck, head, and face, and suffered broken bones.
He has undergone seven surgeries. The most recent procedure involved a nerve graft in his arm, where surgeons took a nerve from his leg to replace a missing part of the nerve in his left arm. This surgery aims to help him regain some function in his left hand, with success to be determined by tests in the coming months. His parents expressed amazement at his progress, stating they were initially unsure if he would survive.
Following the incident, police arrested and bailed a 30-year-old man from Norfolk on suspicion of attempted murder.
