A seven-year-old boy, Musa Ahmed, has died in hospital after being involved in a beach tragedy that also killed a mother and daughter. Musa had been on a family day trip to West Mersea, Essex, on July 22, when he and five relatives got into difficulty in the water.
Shelina Rahman, 41, and 15-year-old Sameeha died at the scene. Musa was pulled from the water and airlifted to the Royal London Hospital, where he passed away on Tuesday evening, according to his family. The group had traveled to the island from Ilford, east London, that morning.
Three other individuals were taken to the hospital by ambulance following the incident and are reported to be recovering. Musa's father, Shahin Ahmed, stated that the group was swept away by a strong tide, and police confirmed that significant efforts were made by the individuals to help each other.
Detective Chief Inspector Al Pitcher, leading the investigation, expressed that "all our thoughts are with the family and friends of those involved" and described their bravery and strength as humbling. Police are interviewing witnesses to reconstruct the events leading up to the tragedy.
