The last known footage of 14-year-old Lilly Jones shows her running down a street in Blaina, South Wales, days before her body was discovered. The video, captured on a doorbell camera around 6:50 p.m. on June 20, depicts Lilly heading towards a park. Her parents reported her missing when she did not return home and her mobile phone was switched off, which was unusual.

An appeal for information circulated on social media, prompting local residents to organize a search. Police utilized a helicopter and drones in their efforts. Lilly's body was found by two members of the public late on Monday evening in undergrowth within a park, approximately 50 yards from the town's Bowls club.

Some viewers of the doorbell footage have described it as appearing as if Lilly was trying to get away from someone. She was last seen wearing a long black corset dress, matching the description provided by police when she was listed as a missing person.

A 14-year-old boy, who attended a different school, was arrested on Tuesday. He appeared before Newport Youth Court on Friday morning charged with Lilly's murder. He spoke only to confirm his name, address, and date of birth during the brief hearing, with his mother present. The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is scheduled to appear before Cardiff Crown Court on Monday.

Forensic officers have been searching the boy's home. Detective Chief Inspector Steven Thomas stated that while a significant development has been made, investigations are ongoing, and a police presence will remain in the Blaina area. Cordoned-off areas, including Duffryn Park, will continue to be examined. Thomas thanked local residents for their support and patience during the investigation.
