A 13-year-old boy sustained serious injuries after being stabbed at a Taco Bell in Rochdale on Saturday evening. The incident occurred around 6 p.m. when a group of about 25 youths reportedly entered the restaurant.
Witnesses at the scene described the moment the group allegedly swarmed a crew member guarding the door before entering the establishment. The victim was allegedly attacked inside the restaurant's bathroom.
Members of the public intervened to assist the injured teenager. One diner provided aid by applying pressure to the wound with napkins. Emergency services arrived at the scene, and the boy was transported to a hospital for treatment of his serious injuries.
Greater Manchester Police evacuated patrons from the restaurant and subsequently closed it as an investigation commenced. The Taco Bell remains shut while inquiries are ongoing.
Authorities have arrested two teenage boys on suspicion of assault and possession of a bladed article in connection with the incident. Enquiries by the police are continuing.
David Lane, a witness dining with his family, reported seeing a group of teenagers enter the restaurant earlier and begin fighting. He expressed concern for his family's safety and asked staff to lock the door shortly before the larger group entered. Lane recounted hearing crying and screaming, followed by the discovery of the stabbing victim. He stated he applied pressure to the wound and described the scene as hectic and horrific. His son had been in the restroom moments before the youths entered but left before the alleged stabbing.
