Boris Becker, the 58-year-old former Wimbledon champion, is facing renewed financial challenges with his British company, BB Private Office Ltd, reportedly owing nearly £700,000. The company, which Becker used to deposit earnings from television and promotional work, owes more than £650,000 to HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC), according to documents filed at Companies House.
Despite the significant debt, BB Private Office Ltd is expected to have over £200,000 remaining after these debts are settled. To prevent the company from being liquidated, Fenton Higgins, who now controls BB, has applied to the High Court for a Company Voluntary Arrangement. However, HMRC has filed a winding-up petition against the company, a legal action that compels closure unless debts are paid.
Becker was declared bankrupt in 2017 and later jailed for hiding assets to avoid repaying debts. After serving eight months of a two-and-a-half-year sentence, he was deported and is barred from returning to Britain. He currently resides in Milan with his third wife, Lillian. Becker, who achieved a historic Wimbledon victory at 17, has expressed that he misses the tournament and has memories tied to every court.
While Becker's personal and professional life has been marked by financial and legal struggles, including a protracted financial dispute with his second wife, the current situation with BB Private Office Ltd highlights the ongoing complexities of his financial affairs.
