Blake Monroe made her in-ring debut on "Friday Night SmackDown" on October 2, 2026, with an entrance that drew attention, later revealed to be deeply personal. The former NXT star defeated opponent Giulia in her first main roster match.
Monroe explained in an Instagram post that her feather-adorned robe was a tribute to her grandparents. She recalled a moment before her first wrestling class nine years prior, when she felt overwhelming fear and considered abandoning her dream. At that moment, she found a feather on her car's windshield, which she interpreted as a sign from her grandmother, who had recently passed away after a long illness. "They say feathers are a message from someone in heaven," Monroe wrote. "It sounds silly, but in that moment I felt like my grandmother was with me, telling me to step through those doors and give my dreams a chance."
Her connection to her grandparents was reinforced just weeks before her SmackDown debut when her grandfather passed away. Monroe described struggling with grief and not having had the chance to say goodbye. While getting her hair done for the televised match, her hairdresser found another feather in her hair, which Monroe again saw as a comforting message from her grandfather. "I truly have no idea how it got there. But I felt like it was my grandad saying hello," she stated.
Monroe described her SmackDown entrance as a "burlesque and Great Gatsby dream" but emphasized its deeper meaning. She felt that her grandparents, now together, were supporting her during a significant moment in her life, especially as she pursues her dreams in a country where she feels alone. "Last night I had never felt so strong. They were with me in those wonderful feather fans," she said.
Monroe joined WWE last year and debuted in NXT in June 2025. She previously held the NXT Women's North American Championship before being called up to the main roster. In her SmackDown debut match against Giulia, Monroe secured the win after thwarting an attempted move from the top turnbuckle, leading to Giulia hitting her head and being incapacitated for the pinfall.
