Billy Baldwin has spoken about the significant on-set tension he experienced with Sharon Stone while filming the 1993 erotic thriller "Sliver," stating he would "never work with her again."
Appearing on the Lisa Guerrero Unleashed podcast this week, Baldwin, 63, reflected on his time working with Stone, 68. He recalled that while they initially got along during the first couple of weeks of production, the atmosphere soured significantly afterward.
"She wouldn't say 'hello' or 'goodbye' to me for the next three months," Baldwin said, describing the situation as making the cast and crew "miserable."
The actor recounted feeling so uncomfortable that he approached producers to request that he not be required to kiss Stone in a sex scene. "I can do the scene but just please don't make me kiss her. …I can't kiss her," he recalled telling them.
Baldwin stated that his request led to their characters, Zeke Hawkins and Carly Norris, engaging in a sexual encounter against a pillar in the film.
Stone, in her 2021 memoir "The Beauty of Living Twice," had previously alleged that producer Robert Evans suggested she have an off-camera encounter with Baldwin to alleviate on-set tension and improve their performances. Baldwin, however, refuted this account, telling Guerrero that Evans made the same suggestion to him.
"Robert Evans wasn't saying that to her or me about our acting," Baldwin explained. "He was saying, 'I keep getting reports that there's incredibly bad tension. We know what it's all about. All this pent-up sexual energy tension. Just do it and get it over with.'"
Despite the difficulties, Baldwin acknowledged Stone's powerful screen presence, referencing her iconic role in "Basic Instinct." "Sharon Stone on screen, whether she's crossing and uncrossing her legs or not, Sharon Stone on screen has got awesome screen presence," he said.
Baldwin also expressed a desire to "bury the hatchet" with Stone, stating he would "love to shake her hand" or "give her a hug."
This is not the first time the dynamic between the two actors has surfaced. In 2024, when Stone discussed the drama on The Louis Theroux Podcast, Baldwin had threatened to reveal "dirt" on his former co-star. However, he maintained on Guerrero's show that this was the first time he was detailing their working relationship.
Baldwin further alleged that Stone had told a friend, Janice Dickinson, that she intended to make him fall for her so hard that his head would "f**king spin." He also mentioned hearing from "hair and makeup people" that Stone had erected a shrine to him in her trailer, though he speculated on its purpose, suggesting it could have been for good energy or possibly related to "voodoo."
"Sliver" follows Carly as she moves into an apartment building where several female tenants have died. She begins an affair with the building's owner, Zeke, only to suspect he might be the killer.
Representatives for Stone and Baldwin did not immediately respond to requests for comment from the Daily Mail.
