Democrat donor and billionaire Stephen Cloobeck has called off his engagement to Adva Lavie, a former Penthouse Pet model, his spokesperson confirmed to The Daily Mail. Lavie has reportedly moved out of Cloobeck's $26 million mansion.
A spokesperson for the 64-year-old real estate tycoon stated that the engagement was ended in early June but was kept private until now. The couple will not be getting married, and while Cloobeck remains on friendly terms with Lavie, their relationship has concluded.
The announcement comes shortly after Lavie was arrested again and charged with theft. She was also found to be in violation of a court order for not wearing her required ankle monitor, according to NBC LA.
Lavie had been ordered to wear an ankle monitor in early April after pleading not guilty to six felony charges, including grand theft, burglary, and unauthorized use of identifying information. Her most recent arrest on Tuesday was reportedly connected to a separate theft.
Prosecutors have accused Lavie of targeting wealthy older men, allegedly luring them into "honey traps" from which she would then steal cash and designer items. She is also known as Mia Ventura and is described as a social media influencer.
In May, Cloobeck himself faced accusations of attempting to intimidate or dissuade a witness from testifying in Lavie's case. Both Cloobeck and Lavie have denied the allegations against them.
Cloobeck, the founder of the timeshare company Diamond Resorts, had been set to marry Lavie on June 18 in Jerusalem, Israel. However, a judge had ordered Lavie to remain in California and surrender her passport, which could have prevented the wedding from taking place as planned.
Cloobeck surrendered to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department on an outstanding felony warrant and was later released on a $300,000 bond. His legal team stated that the charges are false and they look forward to their day in court. If convicted, Cloobeck faces up to four years in prison.
Cloobeck was previously a significant donor to Congressman Eric Swalwell. However, following sexual assault allegations against Swalwell in mid-April, Cloobeck publicly distanced himself, stating he was no longer supporting the congressman and had kicked him out of his Los Angeles mansion. Cloobeck declared himself a libertarian in April, stating, "F*** you, Democrat Party. I'm a libertarian now."
Lavie faces up to 11 years in prison if convicted of her charges and has expressed frustration with the ongoing legal proceedings. She was seen grabbing at her electric ankle monitor as she left court.
Cloobeck's own political ambitions included a bid for Governor of California, which he later dropped. He had previously donated over $1 million to Swalwell's gubernatorial campaign.
