Comedian and talk show host Bill Maher has reiterated his stance that his "vote is in play" in upcoming elections, citing his dissatisfaction with what he describes as the Democratic Party's "colonization" by radical, socialist views.

During a recent episode of HBO's "Real Time," Maher criticized the agenda of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) and its apparent influence on the mainstream Democratic Party. "People gotta realize this is going on," Maher said. "Yes, my vote is in play. I’m not voting for anyone who thinks the wrong side won the Cold War or cheers for the intifada like it’s the World Cup."

Maher highlighted an open pledge initiated by Democratic Congressmen Tom Suozzi of New York and Adam Gray of California, aimed at moderating the party amidst rising DSA viewpoints. The pledge stated, "We are capitalists, not socialists. We want safety, not lawlessness. We are proud, not ashamed of America."

According to Maher, only eight out of 212 Democratic members of Congress signed this pledge. "And, no, this nonsense is not where most Democratic politicians are right now," he stated, "But it’s also becoming a raging fire festival in the party that neither is anyone putting out."

He noted that some politicians are now being elected who he claims do not support police, prisons, or borders. Maher previously told ABC News "This Week" co-anchor Jonathan Karl that his vote was uncertain because he could not support Donald Trump and was unwilling to live in a "communist America."

Former state attorney Dave Aronberg echoed Maher's concerns, suggesting that the DSA's platform could hinder Democratic momentum. "History and current polling trends point to a blue wave in November, and the DSA is the only thing that can stop it," Aronberg said. "Outside of concentrated blue enclaves in places like New York and Denver, general elections aren’t won on the far-left fringes. If the Democratic Party lets the DSA drive the bus, they’re driving straight off an electoral cliff."

Christian Toto, host of The Hollywood in Toto Podcast, commented on Maher's candor, stating, "Bill Maher is many things, and that includes being intellectually honest. His liberal comedy peers aren’t. They do the bidding of the modern Democratic party, period."

Maher concluded his show by suggesting he would consider voting for former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin over DSA candidates within the Democratic Party, saying, "Get your head out of your a–, I would vote for Sarah Palin before this s—. She’s a bimbo, but if you asked her to come up with something she likes about America, she could do it. You betcha."
