Sherman Oaks, Calif. – Boneyard Bistro, a popular Southern California barbecue restaurant, will close its doors permanently on September 12 after a 20-year run. Owner Aaron Robins announced the closure in an emotional video posted to Instagram.
"After a lot of thought, I’ve decided I’m ready to take a break and close the chapter on Boneyard," Robins said, expressing gratitude to the community for their support over the years. "This place has been so much more than a restaurant to me, and I’m incredibly grateful for the memories we’ve created together."
First opened in 2005 by chef Aaron Robins, Boneyard Bistro became a neighborhood institution known for its slow-smoked barbecue, cheesesteaks, pizzas, burgers, and craft cocktails. The restaurant's final day of service is scheduled for September 12, and Robins encouraged patrons to visit before its closure.
Fans and customers shared their memories and sadness over the restaurant's impending closure in the comments of Robins' announcement. Actor Drew Talbert recalled working at the restaurant for a decade and meeting his wife there. Another patron shared that the restaurant was the site of their first date and their 10th anniversary celebration.
Customers also praised the restaurant's unique menu items, with one commenter noting "chili filled donuts" as an example of its creative offerings. The establishment has been a significant part of the Sherman Oaks community for two decades, hosting milestones and family gatherings for many.
"Please come join us before our final service on September 12th. Come have a drink, enjoy a great meal, and say goodbye to Boneyard the way it deserves. Thank you for 20+ incredible years," Robins stated in his announcement.
