A BBC news crew was filming a report on shoplifting at a Greggs bakery in Bearwood, near Birmingham, England, when they witnessed and captured two men openly stealing items.

The incident occurred as the crew was interviewing staff and customers about the persistent issue of retail theft. The two individuals, carrying rucksacks, entered the store and proceeded to ransack a refrigerator, ignoring a female worker who attempted to intervene. They reportedly swore at the employee during the 55-second raid.

Workers at the Greggs outlet indicated that such brazen thefts are a daily occurrence, with offenders targeting the store multiple times each day. A spokesperson for Greggs stated that the company takes the widespread problem of shoplifting "extremely seriously," has implemented enhanced security measures across its stores, and collaborates closely with law enforcement.
