Author Peter James, whose crime novels featuring Detective Superintendent Roy Grace are favorites of Queen Camilla, has expressed his desire for the Queen and King Charles III to appear in the ITV adaptation of his work.
James stated his intention to ask Camilla if she would be willing to play herself in the series "Grace." He also suggested that King Charles could potentially appear in a previous thriller, "The Hawk Is Dead," where the King and Queen assist Grace in solving the murder of a royal aide.
Camilla has a prior connection to the production, having visited the set of a "Grace" episode in 2021. During her visit, she reportedly offered to perform a cameo role as a corpse. James, however, hopes for a more active on-screen presence for the Queen, describing her as "up for a laugh" and possessing a great sense of humor.
King Charles has some acting experience from his school days, having played Macbeth at Gordonstoun School and the Duke of Exeter in "Henry V."
James's enthusiasm for a royal cameo comes amid reports that Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, was being considered for a role in the Guy Ritchie series "The Gentlemen." However, an insider reportedly dismissed the idea, stating the show did not require "stunt casting."
