A desperate search is underway for Sally Grace Contarino, a 26-year-old Australian tourist who was last seen in Nevada on June 20. Her family reported losing contact with her that day and have not heard from her since.
Contarino had been traveling in the United States, visiting destinations including Las Vegas and the Mount Charleston area. She had been staying at Bungalows Hostel on South Las Vegas Boulevard for five days before her disappearance. Surveillance footage from Timbers Bar & Grill shows Contarino walking down the street on the evening of June 19, wearing dark clothing and Converse shoes. She left the restaurant shortly before 10:30 p.m. and returned to her hostel.
Contarino remotely checked out of her hostel on June 20, with a flight booked to return to Australia. She had also purchased a Greyhound bus ticket from Las Vegas to Los Angeles, but records indicate the ticket was never scanned.
Jocelyn Zeigler-Arthur, manager of Timbers Bar & Grill, described the area where Contarino was staying as potentially challenging for a young solo female traveler, though she noted Contarino appeared happy and was quiet.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has initiated a missing persons case and is appealing to the public for any information regarding Contarino's whereabouts. Local hospitals have also been alerted to check their records.
Contarino has brown eyes and brown hair. She has previously traveled to the U.S., visiting areas like Palm Springs, California, and Las Vegas, and reportedly enjoyed the desert landscapes, culture, and wildlife.
