Tim Wedlock, an award-winning Australian executive, has died after being struck by a vehicle in downtown Nashville, Tennessee. Wedlock, the executive chairman of AEI Insurance Broking Group, was among a group of pedestrians crossing a street when a car allegedly failed to stop for a red light and hit them.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Broadway and 4th Avenue. Video footage from the scene appears to show a white Ford Fusion speeding through the intersection and striking pedestrians in the crosswalk.

Wedlock sustained critical injuries and was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he later died. Three other pedestrians, a 44-year-old man and two women aged 21 and 58, were also injured.

According to Metro Nashville Police, the driver of the Ford Fusion was identified as 87-year-old Thomas Cahill, a resident of Kentucky. Police stated that Cahill did not show signs of impairment at the time of the incident. Cahill and his 90-year-old wife, who was a passenger in the vehicle along with her caregiver, were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Nashville Mayor Freddie O'Connell stated that the cause of the driver failing to stop for pedestrians was unclear. He added that the city's immediate priorities were caring for the victims and ensuring public safety.

Colleagues remembered Wedlock as an "unfailingly generous" individual who embodied professionalism and integrity. Noel Kelly, managing director and chief executive of AEI, described Wedlock as a "cornerstone" and a "legend" of the insurance industry, noting his extensive energy and willingness to mentor others.

Gordon Rugby Club, where Wedlock was a former player, board member, and sponsor, also paid tribute. Club president Matt Glascott called Wedlock the "epitome" of the club's values, highlighting his positivity, supportiveness, and friendship.

Wedlock is survived by his wife, Prue, and his children, Matt and Ash. Willoughby councillor Robert Samuel, a former schoolmate of Wedlock's, indicated that Wedlock was traveling with his family at the time of the accident.
