Authorities have charged Kyle Collins, 37, with the "very brutal and horrific murder" of his girlfriend, Cierra Tellez, 36, in Mesa, Arizona. Collins was arrested on Friday after he initially called 911 last Tuesday, reporting that he had found Tellez unresponsive in their apartment and was attempting CPR.

First responders, however, discovered Tellez had sustained significant injuries, prompting a homicide investigation. Collins now faces charges of first-degree murder and kidnapping. A prosecutor described Collins as a "very dangerous individual" during his initial court appearance.

According to a neighbor, Collins was with him on Monday, July 20, the day before the 911 call, and appeared to be fine. The neighbor reported that Collins came to his door early the next morning, stating he had argued with Tellez. Collins reportedly told the neighbor he was going to work but never arrived, his employer told investigators. He placed the 911 call around 11 a.m. that day.

Investigators reported finding a pair of blood-stained shorts and a bronze metal rod, believed to be the murder weapon, as evidence. Collins is being held on a $1,250,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Maricopa County Court again on July 29.
