Archduchess Isabel von Habsburg-Lothringen of Austria married Spanish aristocrat Carlos de Palacio Gaytan de Ayala on Saturday in Vienna's Jesuit Church. The bride is the great-granddaughter of Emperor Karl and Empress Zita of Austria.
Among the guests were King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium, accompanied by their eldest children, Princess Elisabeth and Prince Gabriel. Archduchess Isabel, 26, is the daughter of Archduke Simeon of Austria and Princess Maria of Bourbon-Two Sicilies. Her family has historical ties to the Belgian Royal Family, as King Philippe's sister, Princess Astrid, is married to Prince Lorenz, Archduke of Austria-Este.
Carlos de Palacio Gaytan de Ayala is the son of Carlos Maria de Palacio y de Oriol and Teresa Gaytan de Ayala y Dominguez and is of Spanish nobility. Both Isabel and Carlos are based in London and work in finance. Isabel is an analyst for Fremman Capital, and Carlos is a Senior Associate in Mubadala Capital's Private Equity team.
Princess Elisabeth, 24, arrived in an emerald green pleated dress with a coordinating fascinator, while Queen Mathilde, 53, wore a red lace dress. The younger members of the Belgian Royal Family, Prince Emmanuel and Princess Eleanore, were not in attendance.
For her wedding day, Isabel wore an A-line silk dress with a floral lace bodice and donned the Bourbon-Two Sicilies diamond button tiara, borrowed from her uncle, the Duke of Calabria. The tiara was previously worn by her mother on her wedding day and was gifted to Princess Alicia of Bourbon-Parma in 1936. She also accessorized with her mother's pearl earrings.
Other notable guests included Countess Anna Schaffgotsch, Infante Dinis de Braganca, Pierre D'Arenberg, and Princess Lydia Athenais D'Arenberg. Princess Elisabeth recently spoke about a group chat shared with other young European royals, including Crown Princesses Catharina-Amalia of the Netherlands and Ingrid Alexander of Norway, to discuss the challenges of their public lives.
