Ant Anstead, host of the Quest show "Ant Anstead: Born Mechanic," recently offered a rare glimpse into his private life, praising his girlfriend, actress Renee Zellweger, in an interview on "Jeremy Vine on 5." The couple, who have been together for five years, are typically reserved about their relationship, but Anstead described Zellweger as "the best human I've ever met."

Anstead shared that Zellweger played a role in the decision to purchase the 500-year-old farmhouse he is currently restoring for his show. "She was there prior to purchasing it," Anstead explained, "so I obviously take her counsel, and we walked around it and we were like, yeah, this is the house."

He further lauded Zellweger, noting their five-year anniversary in April. "She’s a wonderful human. The best human I’ve ever met, for a start. She’s absolutely brilliant. Genius. The kindest human on the planet. She’s into cars and houses," Anstead said, as a photo of Zellweger appeared on screen. He also recalled their first meeting on the set of "Celebrity IOU," where Zellweger's ability to drive a manual transmission car in Los Angeles impressed him.

While Anstead has historically been private about their relationship, he admitted in 2024 that he sometimes forgets Zellweger's public profile. "She's so incredibly normal and I often forget that she's famous," he stated.

Zellweger, known for her roles in films like "Bridget Jones," also offered a rare insight into their romance last year in a joint interview with Hugh Grant for British Vogue. She mentioned living in Southern California, near San Diego, to be with Anstead and his son.

Anstead is father to Hudson, six, with his ex-wife Christina Haack, and also has two older children, Amelia and Archie, from a previous marriage. The presenter has spoken candidly about the difficulties he and Haack faced during their divorce proceedings, describing their past behavior as "shameful." The couple, married from 2018 to 2021, engaged in a public custody battle for their son, which Anstead admitted took years to resolve amicably. They ultimately agreed to continue joint legal and physical custody of Hudson. Anstead had previously sought full custody in 2022, alleging concerns about Haack's involvement and Hudson's well-being, claims Haack's legal team called "false allegations."
