Annemarie Wiley, wife of former NFL player and media personality Marcellus Wiley, has publicly responded to the ongoing divorce proceedings and allegations of abuse, also criticizing comments made by ex-NFL player Emmanuel Acho. Annemarie filed for divorce last month, seeking a restraining order against Marcellus, citing irreconcilable differences and alleging a pattern of physical violence, sexual abuse, verbal and emotional abuse, financial control, and intimidation. Marcellus Wiley has denied these claims.
Annemarie, a former cast member of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills," addressed Emmanuel Acho's recent remarks in a lengthy Instagram statement. She called Acho's comments "disgusting and disturbing," stating that men like him, with no understanding of women's experiences as victims, perpetuate the reasons women remain silent. She emphasized that leaving abusive situations is often a last resort. "Please know that when we leave it is always because we had no other choice left," she wrote. She extended her support to other victims of domestic violence, calling them resilient and strong.
Marcellus Wiley was arrested in Orange County, Florida, on July 4, following an alleged altercation. The arrest affidavit claims Wiley threatened to kill his wife and became physical with her in front of their daughter in a hotel room. Annemarie told police that Wiley poked her in the cheek and threatened her life on July 3, and alleged an unreported history of violence, which Wiley denies.
Emmanuel Acho had previously commented on the situation, questioning the timeline of Annemarie's allegations. "So in 2024, you suggested that he's an incredible Black man and an incredible father, but in 2012, you allege that he tried to rape you and shoot at two of your home girls," Acho said, also calling both parties "dumb as hell" at times.
Annemarie's legal filing states that Wiley's alleged abuse began in 2012 and includes accusations of four alleged rapes. She is seeking sole legal and physical custody of their three children and an order denying Wiley visitation. She claims Wiley subjects her to constant criticism, cruel remarks, and intimidation, with physical abuse occurring approximately once a month or more frequently. She expressed fear for her safety and that of their children.
Marcellus Wiley has called Annemarie's allegations "lies" and stated he possesses evidence, including videos, photographs, and text messages, that contradict her claims. He asserted that his highest priority is protecting his children and preserving their relationship with both parents. He suggested that Annemarie's actions are related to her being removed from "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills."
In addition to the divorce proceedings, court documents reportedly show Marcellus Wiley has been ordered to repay over $500,000 to Preferred Bank for a loan taken out in May 2023 that was not repaid.
Wiley, a former defensive end, was a second-round pick in the 1997 NFL Draft. He played for the Buffalo Bills, San Diego Chargers, Dallas Cowboys, and Jacksonville Jaguars, earning a Pro Bowl selection in 2001. After retiring in 2006, he transitioned to a media career, co-hosting programs like ESPN's "SportsNation." Wiley has also faced prior sexual assault allegations from multiple accusers, which he has consistently denied.
