Anna Sorokin, the Russian-born figure who posed as German heiress Anna Delvey, celebrated the Fourth of July with a patriotic social media post, showcasing a recent weight loss transformation. The display comes as federal authorities continue efforts to deport her from the United States.

Sorokin, 35, shared a video on Instagram celebrating Independence Day, featuring herself in a black swimsuit and sunglasses at the edge of an infinity pool. She waved an American flag in the clip, which also prominently showed her ankle monitor. She captioned the post, "Happy Independence Day to all, but especially to my own freedom fighters," and thanked her legal team.

This public appearance follows revelations that federal authorities are pushing for Sorokin's deportation, with a Department of Homeland Security spokesperson stating she "has made a mockery of the United States court system and its immigration laws." The spokesperson added, "We look forward to sending her home soon."

Sorokin entered the U.S. on a tourist visa in 2017 and overstayed it, becoming an "illegal alien," according to federal authorities. She then adopted the persona of Anna Delvey, claiming to have a $60 million trust fund in Europe, to defraud banks, hotels, and individuals of approximately $275,000. She was arrested in July 2017 after failing to pay hotel bills and later in October 2017 following a sting operation. In 2019, she was convicted of multiple charges, including second-degree larceny and theft of services, though acquitted of more serious charges related to a large bank loan and defrauding a friend.

She was sentenced to four to 12 years in prison but was released early in February 2021. Six weeks later, she was arrested by immigration agents for allegedly overstaying her visa. Sorokin faced deportation proceedings in March 2022 but was released from ICE custody in October of that year, placed under electronic monitoring. She has since continued to attend events, sometimes accessorizing her ankle monitor, and has been featured on "Dancing with the Stars." Additionally, Netflix reportedly paid her $320,000 for the rights to the series "Inventing Anna."
