American artists are significantly outperforming international acts on Spotify within the United States, according to internal listener data released ahead of the Fourth of July. The analysis indicates that 69% of all streams in the nation are dedicated to American artists, and American-made music constituted 70% of Spotify's Top 50 chart in the U.S. in 2025.
Taylor Swift is identified as the most-streamed artist both domestically and globally. Morgan Wallen emerged as a particular favorite among U.S. listeners, with 74% of his streams originating from within the country, the highest percentage among American artists.
Other artists who command a substantial portion of the U.S. listener base include Bad Bunny, Kendrick Lamar, and Post Malone. Globally, U.S. artists are also dominant, with Bad Bunny, Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, and Eminem ranking high in popularity outside of America, just behind Swift.
Last year, listeners outside the United States streamed songs featuring at least one U.S. artist 776 billion times, highlighting the international reach of American music.
Domestically, the most popular genres on Spotify include pop, hip-hop, rock, indie, and country. Internationally, pop, hip-hop, rock, dance, and indie lead the pack. Over the past five years, streams of American country music have seen a significant increase, rising by more than 94% internationally.
On Independence Day, popular searches include patriotic anthems such as Bruce Springsteen's “Born in the U.S.A.,” Lee Greenwood's “God Bless The U.S.A.,” Katy Perry's “Firework,” John Mellencamp's “R.O.C.K. In The U.S.A.,” and Ray Charles' “America the Beautiful.”
The demand for American content extends beyond music to podcasts. "The Joe Rogan Experience," "The Mel Robbins Podcast," "This Past Weekend w/ Theo Von," Huberman Lab, and "Call Her Daddy" were among the top-ranked podcasts globally on the platform.
