Amanda Seyfried has experienced a tumultuous period marked by a separation from her husband, public controversy, and personal loss.

Seyfried and husband Thomas Sadoski announced their split after nine years of marriage, stating in a joint release that they had been separated for some time. The couple, parents to a nine-year-old daughter and a five-year-old son, emphasized the amicable nature of their separation. Seyfried shared a lighthearted image of Sadoski with a bearded dragon on Instagram, captioned "#reptiledad," and later posted a quote about forgiveness and keeping an open heart.

The actress's public life has been complicated by controversies stemming from her comments during promotional tours for her work. In July, Seyfried faced accusations of making insensitive remarks about disgraced film producer Harvey Weinstein during an appearance on Variety's "Actors On Actors" series with Adam Brody. The segment, released in June amid Weinstein's retrial, showed Seyfried and Brody discussing Weinstein's alleged abuses with a tone described by some viewers as inappropriately lighthearted.
