Amanda Holden has addressed the ongoing debate surrounding the term 'nepo baby,' asserting that parents universally desire to help their children gain a foothold in their chosen careers.
Holden's eldest daughter, Lexi, 20, has recently embarked on a modeling career, signing with Storm Management and making her runway debut at London Fashion Week in 2024. Amidst discussions about familial advantages in the entertainment industry, Holden stated that while connections might open doors, they do not guarantee success or long-term viability in any profession.
"Being someone's kid is not going to secure work, make a living for you and longevity in whatever career," Holden told the Daily Mail. "It may get a foot in the door, but then you're on your own, so I think it's unfair to sort of single out showbusiness or the music industry, because they're the worst businesses to be in!"
She further elaborated that the impulse to assist others, including friends' children, extends beyond her own family. Holden recounted instances of helping individuals gain experience at Global Radio studios, where she hosts the Heart Breakfast show. She plans for her younger daughter, Hollie, 14, to participate in a similar program next year.
"I just hate the term nepo baby because it's up to them to make it on their own. And it's often worse having a famous parent, it's not often a good thing," Holden commented. She noted that her younger daughter, Hollie, often feels embarrassed by her mother's public profile, preferring to be dropped off away from her school.
Holden suggested that Lexi's success stems from her inherent qualities. "More than anything, she's pretty studious. She's got her head completely screwed on, and she doesn't suffer fools," Holden said. She described Lexi as intelligent, observant, and humble, traits she believes will contribute to her success regardless of her career path.
In a separate discussion, Holden also shared details about her diet and fitness routine. She follows a dietary approach that includes one main meal a day, often an egg white omelette with spinach, feta, and avocado, supplemented by a green juice for breakfast. Holden, who is a vegetarian, admitted to enjoying food and occasional alcoholic beverages, such as Aperol Spritzes. She emphasized a balanced approach to diet, preferring not to cut out entire food groups. For exercise, she uses a Peloton bike two to three times a week, finding it convenient to fit into her schedule.
