Amanda Batula and Kyle Cooke, stars of the Bravo reality series "Summer House," revealed the reasons behind their lack of sexual intimacy during their four-year marriage. During the "In the City" reunion, Batula attributed her depression as a significant factor, stating, "Depression will do that." Cooke, who confirmed the couple split in January, added that they entered a "funk" shortly after their September 2021 wedding.
Batula, 34, explained that Cooke, 43, shifted his focus away from their relationship and toward his business ventures, including Loverboy, and his DJ career. She described his approach to intimacy as lacking foreplay, saying, "He would work all day, work all night, then come to bed, tell me to answer an email and then try to have sex with me." Batula also expressed a lack of emotional intimacy and meaningful conversation, feeling "like an object."
Cooke acknowledged his role in the marriage's difficulties, admitting that he was responsible for arranging nearly every aspect of their shared life, including dates and trips. "One of my issues, like every single thing we ever did, was only because I arranged it," he shared. He suggested this approach was an effort to provide for a future family, but it impacted their relationship.
Batula stated that Cooke's behavior, which included him continuing to socialize while she was struggling, contributed to significant arguments and an "unfortunate storm" exacerbated by her depression. Cooke claimed they had sex only three times during their entire marriage, a statement Batula corroborated.
Batula indicated that she often felt "put on the back burner" by Cooke's priorities. She recalled an instance where his suggested solution to her feelings was for her to read a book on dating an entrepreneur, rather than for him to actively date her. Cooke conceded that his intense work ethic for their future did affect their marriage.
The couple, who announced their split in January 2026, stated in a joint press release that they had "mutually and amicably decided to part ways as a couple." They asked for "grace and support while we focus on our personal growth and healing." Reports in May indicated that the divorce had not yet been filed, as the couple, who did not sign a prenuptial agreement, were still navigating financial and other matters. Cooke reportedly wishes for Batula to initiate the divorce proceedings.
