A man accused of posing as a San Francisco 49ers player to defraud women allegedly shifted his fabricated NFL career to the Los Angeles Rams in an effort to continue his alleged romance and investment scheme. Daejon Love, 35, faces federal charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and wire fraud.
A newly surfaced video appears to show Love wearing Rams gear and telling a woman that his supposed football career had taken him to Los Angeles to play for the Rams, a move from his earlier claimed affiliation with the 49ers.
"I remember I was trying to f–k with you when I was f–king with … the 49ers in the Bay,” Love says in the video. “But now I’m in LA playing, about to play with the Rams.” He then suggested that if the woman had been with him, she would be “in a whole ’nother ballgame by now.”
Federal prosecutors allege that Love met many women through dating applications, cultivated romantic relationships, and presented himself as either an NFL player or a wealthy real estate investor. His social media accounts allegedly supported this image with 49ers memorabilia, luxury vehicles, and displays of wealth. He also reportedly invoked NFL stars Jordan Love and Tyreek Hill to bolster his fabricated story.
Authorities claim that Love and his alleged accomplice, Taylor Jamie Chan, 18, who prosecutors say posed as his financial adviser, defrauded 26 identified victims out of approximately $1.3 million. Both individuals have been arrested and charged in federal court in Portland, Oregon. The charges against them are accusations, and they are not convicted.
The video featuring the Rams persona was not specifically mentioned in the federal complaint, which primarily detailed Love's alleged 49ers and wealthy investor personas. However, the clip illustrates his apparent method of creating an enticing lifestyle and promising access to an elite world through a purported NFL career. The woman who shared the video stated she had blocked Love because his stories did not add up and she could not find verifiable information about him online.
