An Alaska voter, who had considered supporting Democratic candidate Mary Peltola, stated he has switched his allegiance to incumbent Republican Sen. Dan S. Sullivan due to an alleged election scheme involving a candidate with the same name.

The voter, who declined to give his name, told Fox News that he was "disgusted by the whole thing, so sleazy" after reading a New York Times report detailing an alleged effort by Democrats to recruit Daniel J. Sullivan Jr. to run in the Senate race against Sen. Dan S. Sullivan. The race is being conducted under Alaska's ranked-choice voting system.

"When The New York Times article came out, and I found out how that transpired, I was disgusted by the whole thing, so sleazy," the voter said. He and a woman with him confirmed they would now vote for Sen. Sullivan, with the woman adding that she believes the alleged scheme was "unethical."

Peltola has denied involvement in the alleged plot, stating in a rally speech that she knew nothing about other candidates on the ballot besides herself and the incumbent. "I am not interested in tricking voters. I know I can beat Dan Sullivan," she said.

Sen. Sullivan commented on the situation, saying, "We all knew that the decoy Dan guy was fake, but the extent of the corruption, the extent of the cheating."

Former President Donald Trump has also weighed in, posting on Truth Social that Sen. Sullivan should run his race "UNDER PROTEST" due to the alleged fraud. Trump called the situation "ridiculous."

The Department of Justice faces a difficult task in appealing a recent decision regarding the Alaska election, while a separate criminal probe into the matter continues, according to reports. The Peltola campaign did not immediately respond to requests for comment from Fox News Digital.
