Dawood Safi, an Afghan refugee who arrived in the UK in 2020, has been found guilty of murdering his landlord, Wayne Broadhurst, and the attempted murder of another man. The attacks occurred on October 27, 2025, at a property in Midhurst Gardens.
Safi became Farrukh's lodger at the beginning of August 2025. The court heard that on the afternoon of October 27, Safi confronted Farrukh at the door of his annex flat armed with a large kitchen knife. During the ensuing attack, Farrukh sustained stab wounds to his back and chest and reported difficulty breathing.
Neighbors intervened after Safi attacked Farrukh and then Broadhurst, who had emerged from an alleyway with his dog. Broadhurst was found to have suffered approximately 14 stab wounds to his neck, chest, back, and side, and died at the scene. Safi was tasered and arrested by police minutes later.
Evidence presented during the trial indicated that Safi had been experiencing "depressive psychosis" in the days leading up to the attacks. He had sought mental health assistance at Hillingdon Hospital and Hayes Police Station due to "hearing voices."
