Adam Thomas, 37, has unveiled the results of a six-month body transformation, documenting his journey on Instagram following a battle with an autoimmune disease. The actor, known for his role in 'I'm A Celeb,' shared a before-and-after video showcasing a 19-pound weight loss and a reduction in body fat from 19.2% to 12.2%. Thomas revealed that his journey was motivated by struggles with arthritis, a condition causing joint pain, swelling, and stiffness.

Thomas described his fitness journey as challenging, writing on Instagram that arthritis had previously hindered his training for years, leaving him out of shape and feeling like a "shadow of the person I used to be." After getting his autoimmune disease under control, he focused on eating better, increasing physical activity, and maintaining consistency. He expressed pride in becoming the first person with arthritis to be featured on the cover of Men's Fitness, viewing it as a representation of what's possible when living with an autoimmune condition.

Health and Confidence Woes

The actor's decision to overhaul his appearance stemmed partly from his experience on 'I'm A Celeb,' which left him with health and body confidence issues. He told Men's Fitness that he initially believed he was fit but realized he had been training ineffectively for years, relying too much on cardio and running without optimal technique. This transformation stands in contrast to his appearance during the jungle reality show, where he sometimes appeared fatigued.

Thomas's autoimmune psoriatic arthritis diagnosis, received in 2023 before his participation in 'Strictly Come Dancing' and the jungle show, has significantly impacted his life. The condition, which affects joints and skin, can cause weakness to the point where simple tasks like opening a jar become difficult. Adapting weightlifting and endurance training proved challenging, particularly due to wrist discomfort. His trainer, Steve Chambers, helped him develop modified techniques to protect his joints while continuing to train effectively.

Transformation and Future Goals

Thomas set a goal in February to transform his body and health, achieving it within 14 weeks through a high-protein, low-carb diet and a moderate calorie deficit. Balancing this rigorous schedule with family life and work presented the greatest challenge, with the Men's Fitness cover serving as a key motivator. Beyond the physical changes, Thomas stated the transformation has made him a "happier person" and a "better husband and dad," emphasizing that his family benefits from his improved well-being.

Looking ahead, Thomas is considering new challenges, including the HYROX global endurance competition. He reflected on his time in the jungle, admitting that watching back his scenes was difficult due to his struggle with pain, which he tried to hide. This experience taught him the importance of self-advocacy, learning that kindness does not equate to weakness and that difficult moments can help individuals find their voice.
