Armando Niedermeier-Rubio, a star of the reality television series "90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way," has reunited with his 14-year-old daughter Hannah in an Arizona hospital ICU after facing delays at the U.S.-Mexico border. Hannah was airlifted to Phoenix for treatment after experiencing a medical emergency that resulted in a brain bleed.
Niedermeier-Rubio shared a video on Instagram Saturday showing his reunion with Hannah, who is recovering from the undisclosed medical event. The clip also captured an emotional reunion with his husband, Kenny Niedermeier, who is a U.S. citizen. Niedermeier-Rubio, who is from Mexico, has been living with his husband in Mexico since their marriage, as he could not legally enter the United States. Hannah, however, had obtained a green card in May, allowing her to travel to the U.S. for medical care.
Niedermeier-Rubio expressed gratitude for the support received, including from fans, his attorney Kelsey Zubkoff, Arizona Congresswoman Adelita Grijalva, and Arizona Senator Mark Kelly. These individuals reportedly helped advocate for him to receive an emergency humanitarian visa, enabling his entry into the United States. He also thanked the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency for approving his visa.
"After campaigning by us, our attorney @kelseyzubkoff and you, our amazing supporters gave us national attention & exposure," Niedermeier-Rubio wrote in his Instagram caption. "With that came special attention and thanks to congresswoman @repgrijalva Adelita Grijalva (D) of Arizona who reached out to us to help as she facilitated and advocated for me getting approved & into the states on an emergency humanitarian visa with the help and supporting letters from law makers in Arizona including Arizona Senator @senmarkkelly Mark Kelly (D)."
Previously, Niedermeier-Rubio had been turned away at the border while attempting to reach his daughter. Hannah was initially taken to a hospital in Mexico after her face drooped and she lost strength on one side of her body. Doctors there suspected a brain issue, leading to her transfer to a U.S. hospital for more advanced care. Despite having a hospital letter, Niedermeier-Rubio was denied entry. His husband, Niedermeier, was en route to be with Hannah after cutting short a trip to Ohio.
Medical professionals have not yet determined the cause of Hannah's brain bleed, but her condition has reportedly improved significantly. Niedermeier told TMZ that Hannah's physical symptoms had improved by about 90 percent, though the cause of the brain bleed remains under investigation. Niedermeier-Rubio noted that his presence has also shown to positively impact Hannah's recovery.
Armando Niedermeier-Rubio and Kenny Niedermeier have been featured on "90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way" for three seasons, chronicling their relationship as the first same-sex male couple on the series.
