San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk has intensified his contract dispute with the team through a series of public actions and statements over the weekend, including firing his agent, declaring his intention not to report to training camp, and referencing an active arrest warrant.

Aiyuk, 28, confirmed he has parted ways with his agent, Ryan Williams of Athletes First, a move that has implications for future contract negotiations as Williams also represents 49ers general manager John Lynch. In a YouTube video, Aiyuk stated that his relationship with his agent soured after the agent allegedly texted his wife. "That agent really started this whole s*** cause I fired his a**, but he wanted to text my wife like he's smart," Aiyuk said in the video. "(Dude) don't ever text my wife. Your a** fired, your a** grass, get up out of here. Get gone."

Following the dismissal of his agent, Aiyuk directed his attention towards the 49ers' management, expressing his intent to boycott the team until their October 19 game against the Washington Commanders. "I will never be stepping in that building, except for on Oct. 19 when I come through with that belt," Aiyuk declared in the video. The receiver also alluded to issues with team management, suggesting that general manager John Lynch made an uninvited visit to his home. Aiyuk described seeing "a big old white boy, white man, former NFL safety" on his front-door camera, calling the interaction "creepy."

He also criticized head coach Kyle Shanahan, claiming that Lynch attempted to apologize for a separate incident, attributing Shanahan's actions to having the "temperament of a toddler."

The 49ers hold significant leverage in the situation. Aiyuk is currently on the 'reserve/left squad' list, which means the team is not obligated to pay him any part of his contract, including a $24.9 million option bonus due September 1. The player has already forfeited substantial earnings from his four-year, $120 million contract extension, with remaining guarantees totaling $27 million voided in 2026. If Aiyuk continues his stance, he risks losing an additional $71.9 million on his existing deal. A caption displayed during his YouTube video read: "IDGAF HOW MANY MILLIONS I LOSE YOU GOTTA RESPECT ME FIRST."

Adding to the weekend's events, Aiyuk appeared to mock law enforcement regarding a misdemeanor arrest warrant issued in California. Prosecutors obtained the warrant after Aiyuk was recorded driving at 104 mph near Levi's Stadium. In an Instagram post, Aiyuk questioned the warrant and stated, "They gone have to come catch me in DC." He concluded his video by holding a Washington Commanders-branded football, suggesting a potential interest in joining that team, and referring to the 49ers personnel as "weird, weirdos, creepy predators."

Aiyuk has not played for the 49ers since suffering knee ligament tears in 2024.
