Michael Alfonso, at 26 years old, is poised to become the youngest member of Congress after securing victory in Wisconsin's 7th Congressional District. A Republican, Alfonso campaigned on themes of affordability and the restoration of the American Dream. He will take office in January.

Alfonso, who is married to Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy's daughter, Evita, defeated Democratic challenger Fred Clark. The seat was previously held by his father-in-law, Sean Duffy, before he took a position in the Cabinet. Alfonso will succeed Rep. Tom Tiffany, R-Wis., who did not seek re-election.

Endorsed by former President Donald Trump, Alfonso has pledged to advocate for policies aimed at assisting first-time homebuyers and reducing healthcare costs, while also protecting individual freedoms. He also plans to introduce legislation to strengthen Title IX protections by restricting transgender women and girls from using facilities designated for women.

Duffy, who previously represented the district, supported his son-in-law's campaign, emphasizing his working-class background and experience in construction. Alfonso, an accountant for the Diocese of Superior, resides in Hayward, Wisconsin, with his wife and young daughter. His prior experience includes work in the construction industry and as a producer for "The Dan Bongino Show."

Alfonso has addressed concerns about his age and experience by suggesting that established politicians have not delivered sufficient results. He also faced scrutiny during his primary race regarding family connections and campaign donors.
