Zlatan Ibrahimović has criticized both Argentina's Leandro Paredes for his conduct and Spain's players for their reaction during a post-match brawl that occurred after the World Cup final.
Tensions flared after Spain secured the World Cup trophy with a late extra-time goal. A confrontation erupted involving several players and staff members from both teams. Reports indicate that Argentina's Paredes kicked Spain's Eric Garcia and pulled Gavi to the ground, while Rodri was struck by Nahuel Molina and coach Roberto Ayala reportedly punched Dani Olmo.
Ibrahimović, speaking as a pundit for Fox Sports, condemned Paredes' actions, stating that the midfielder was fortunate an "unprofessional" player like himself was not on the field. "If I had been there, I would have headbutted him and been sent off," Ibrahimović commented. He also questioned the Spanish team's response, asking, "I don’t know what the Spanish players are doing? They are just watching another player hit their teammate."
In addition to his commentary on the incident, Ibrahimović announced that his appearance on the Fox Sports panel would be his last. "I have talked a lot during the past month and a half, but these will be my last words," he said, thanking his fellow pundits, Fox, and the viewers. "This is my last visit to the studio. For me, this was the first and last time."
FIFA has initiated formal disciplinary proceedings against the Argentine Football Association regarding the post-match confrontation. Potential sanctions include fines and player suspensions.
