The New York Yankees have placed pitcher Max Fried on the 15-day injured list due to a bone bruise in his elbow, a move backdated to August 14.
Fried pitched five innings of one-run ball in the Yankees' 1-0 loss to the Seattle Mariners on Thursday. Despite the performance, he described his outing as "a little erratic" and threw 88 pitches.
The injury places another significant pitcher on the sidelines for the Yankees, who are also dealing with injuries to outfielders Aaron Judge and Cody Bellinger, as well as slugger Giancarlo Stanton. The team is slated to welcome back pitcher Carlos Rodon on Tuesday, who has been on the injured list since July 3 and is expected to face the Baltimore Orioles.
