New York Yankees catcher Austin Wells has emerged from a difficult start to the season, showcasing a marked improvement at the plate.

Wells described his first three-plus months of the season, during which he batted .148 with a .468 OPS over 62 games, as "definitely the worst stretch I’ve had ever, probably, in my life." The struggles at the plate were significant enough that the Yankees reportedly attempted to acquire a catcher at the trade deadline.

However, in the latter part of the season, Wells has turned his performance around. Over his last 43 games, he has hit .259 with an .814 OPS, providing a boost to the Yankees' offense. This recent success suggests the catcher has found a more consistent rhythm as the team heads into the final stretch of the season.
