The New York Yankees are continuing to bolster their lineup in the final hours before the MLB trade deadline, reportedly agreeing to a deal to acquire outfielder Heliot Ramos from the San Francisco Giants.
Ramos, 26, has had a productive season for the Giants, batting .264 with a .728 OPS, nine home runs, and 34 RBIs in 74 games. He was an All-Star in 2024 and hit a combined 43 home runs over the previous two seasons.
This move follows the Yankees' acquisition of first baseman Luis Garcia from the Washington Nationals on Sunday. Both acquisitions signal the Yankees' intention to upgrade their offense, particularly as they have struggled at the plate since outfielder Aaron Judge's injury in early August. Garcia had been leading the National League in slugging percentage before his trade.
Despite offensive challenges with Judge sidelined, the Yankees remain competitive in the AL East race. Entering Monday, they held a 63-49 record, placing them 2.5 games behind the first-place Tampa Bay Rays.
