The WNBA announced Thursday that the New York Liberty's game against the Dallas Wings, originally scheduled for Thursday, has been postponed to Monday at 8 p.m. ET due to mechanical issues with the Liberty's charter plane.
The team experienced significant travel delays after its plane encountered mechanical problems, leading to its postponement. Rookie Pauline Astier first shared news of the travel disruptions on her Instagram story Wednesday evening, stating "10 hours later, still on the tarmac." The Liberty reportedly switched planes once before deplaning around 12:30 a.m. Thursday. The team canceled its scheduled shootaround for Thursday.
The Dallas Wings will honor all tickets purchased for the original game date. The Dallas area itself faced weather disruptions on Wednesday, with the Federal Aviation Administration issuing a ground stop for flights at DFW International Airport and Dallas Love Field due to severe thunderstorms in North Texas. Severe thunderstorms in the New York area also contributed to flight delays.
This postponement comes after a previous matchup between the Liberty and the Wings on July 7, 2026, which the Liberty lost.
